Polonovski59037 LillePhone number: +33 3 20 44 55 16Professor of surgery in Lille, France, since 2014, his engagement in the Translational Research on Diabetes Lab (Director F Pattou), part of the French Institute of Medical Research, led him to contribute to 131 original articles (h-index = 33, Top 5% = 20, Top 1% = 8). His main research topics have been endocrine surgery and islets transplantation, now moving to metabolic-bariatric surgery and minimally invasive surgery (robotic and innovative techniques). He is now leading the Egid Biotech / Diabinnov team, a platform dedicated to the conception and assessment of new medical devices and surgical or endoscopic procedures.He has been involved in healthcare organizations’ optimization of safety conditions in surgery. Thus, the implementation by Lille University Hospital‚Äôs bariatric team of a surgical and educational network in bariatric surgery in the north of France was rewarded by a SHAM award during the opening conference of the French Surgical Academy in 2017. He collaborated with the Saudi Ministry of Health from 2016 to 2018 as advisor and consultant for King Saud Medical City. The ongoing project is to build an international surgical network to take care of patients presenting severe complications after bariatric surgery.His everyday care activities take place in the General and Endocrine Surgery Department at Lille University Hospital, where he oversees minimally invasive surgery (laparoscopy and robotics) in the endocrine and bariatric field. He has also been supervising the operating theater of the institution dedicated to visceral surgery, urology, and interventional endoscopy since 2018.Prof. Caiazzo is an associate member of the European Surgical Association. He participates in the exchange program between ESA and the American Surgical Association. He is involved with the board of the French association of bariatric surgeons as treasurer and member of the board of the French association of Endocrine Surgeon.
