Biography
I am a Pediatric Gastroenterology Fellow at Stanford Children’s Hospital. During my pediatric residency training, I cared for many patients living with obesity and began to see a rising number of children developing metabolic dysfunction associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD). My interactions made me question why certain individuals with obesity were more susceptible to developing MASLD compared to others. I wondered if it was due to genetic predisposition, metabolism, neuronal dysregulation or a combination of these elements. As a physician scientist and pediatric gastroenterologist, I am passionate about studying the genomic and metabolomic profiles of children with obesity and MASLD with the goal of providing earlier interventions to at risk youth and preventing the development of MASLD. By comprehensively understanding these factors, I aspire to uncover novel therapeutic approaches that can empower individuals to lead healthier lives.
