Biography
After being raised in Denver, CO with my two siblings, I went north to the University of Montana – Missoula for my undergrad. Montana provided me with so much more than a great education. It confirmed my love of skiing, it‚Äôs where I learned to river surf and it taught me the value of a good water-proof cast‚Ķespecially during fly fishing class. Following undergrad, I took a year away from academics to gain some clinical experience, work on research, and volunteer abroad. After completion of my research projects, I embarked on a 3-month medical volunteer trip to Kathmandu, Nepal. While my time at the community hospital was equal parts educational and rewarding, I would say my favorite experience was the trek to Everest Base with some co-volunteers I met along the way. While I am very passionate about surgery, I am a very curious person by nature and enjoy learning about new things and mastering new skills such as painting, knitting, pottery, cooking and baking. At this juncture in my training, I am torn between pursuing fellowship in Surgical Critical Care/Trauma or HPB. Thankfully I still have time to decide. With the sparse amount of free-time a surgical resident has, you can find me one of three places: Skiing at Mt. Bachelor, Kayaking down the Willamette or curled up next to the fire with my cats, reading a Stephen King novel.
