Biography

A Chicago native, Dr. Loggins currently serves as the Medical Director of Mission Weight Management at Mission Hospital in Asheville, North Carolina. Dr. Loggins received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, IL. He went on to earn his medical degree from Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago, IL. From there, Dr Loggins’ received his general surgery training completing a surgical internship at Tripler Army Medical Center and residency at the Marshfield Clinic, in Marshfield, WI. He completed a fellowship in Minimally Invasive and Robotic Surgery at the University of California, Davis Medical Center, in Sacramento, CA. Dr. Loggins is an Army Veteran, having served his country for 9 years working as a military physician.Dr. Loggins has been a dedicated bariatric surgeon for over 17 years, performing over 5000 successful bariatric surgery cases including a high volume of complex revisional cases He also maintains a robust endoscopic case load including advanced endoscopic suturing. He has held several leadership positions including Chief of Surgery at Central Maine Medical Center, Chair of the Committee on Applicants as well as chapter president for the Maine Chapter of the American College of Surgeons. He also was the inaugural president of the Maine Chapter of the ASMBS and later the Maine representative of the New England Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. Dr. Loggins is a proud member of the New England Surgical Society. Additionally, Dr. Loggins enjoys his work as an experienced MBSAQIP site surveyor. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons as well as the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. He serves on several ASMBS committees including Access to Care and is the Co-Chair of the Emerging Technologies Committee.
