Biography
Hyo grew up in PA in the land of the Amish. After graduating from Wesleyan University, he moved to NYC to perform structural biology research at Memorial Sloan Kettering and also obtained a Master in Nutrition at Columbia. He attended medical school at Rush University in Chicago and returned to NJ for general surgery residency. The interconnection of obesity to other factors such as nutrition, psychology, and socioeconomics is fascinating, and he hopes to continue research in the field as he applies for MIS/Bariatric fellowship this year. Outside of the operating room and hospital, he likes attending a jazz concert or enjoying a neighborhood restaurant in NYC.
