Description
During this interactive session attendees will begin with an overview of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP) requirements for annual quality improvement (QI) and how to leverage and interpret data available via the MBSAQIP Registry to choose meaningful initiatives. Attendees will learn from surgeon experts about QI methodologies, interventions, prioritization, and culture. During the second half of this session attendees will break into small work groups led by expert QI facilitators to simulate each step of selecting and conducting a formal QI project, culminating in a brief presentation of project results and experiences. This course is essential for novice QI leaders in a metabolic and bariatric surgery (MBS) setting and is suggested for all members of the MBS team including, but not limited to MBS Directors.
During this session attendees will have the opportunity to learn about techniques to assist quality improvement efforts and be provided with case studies and project planning templates on a USB Flash Drive to design quality improvement projects.
Please note, we are unable to provide computers for all attendees and request that you bring a laptop for use during the activity. All attendees will be able to take home a USB Flash Drive with sample files, project planning templates, and additional quality improvement resources.
