Description
This session will explore the collaboration of the Bariatric team with the Transplant surgery and Orthopedic surgery teams in providing care for patients undergoing Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery as a bridge to Transplant and Joint Replacement.
Learning Objectives
- Review current evidence-base of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery as a bridge to Transplant and Orthopedic procedures, and analyze the relationship to postop complications and outcomes.
- Explore best-practices in the coordination of care across ortho and transplant teams with the MBS team.
- Recognize the challenges in macro- and micronutrient management of MBS patients with end stage organ failure.
- Discuss the behavioral health evaluation of patients with end stage organ failure contemplating Metabolic and Bariatric surgery.
