Biography
Andrea Rigby is an associate professor and a licensed clinical psychologist who has been with Penn State Health since 2008. Dr. Rigby is the psychologist dedicated to the Department of Surgery’s Surgical Weight Loss Program. She is a graduate of The Pennsylvania State University as well as Philadelphia College of Medicine where she earned her doctorate in psychology. She completed a postdoctoral fellowship in a residential eating disorders program. As a bariatric psychologist, she is responsible for preoperative patient assessment, as well as group and individual therapies. She is the author of several peer-reviewed publications that have appeared in SOARD as well as other journals. Her research focuses on pre and postoperative outcomes in association with eating problems such as binge eating and grazing, as well as food insecurity, body image and weight bias.
